WPL: The Beginning of New Era in Women's Cricket in India

Nearly one and a half decades earlier back in 2007, the Indian Cricket team won the ICC t-20 world cup by defeating Pakistan. The T-20 world cup opens a way for the BCCI to go in-depth and find a way to promote the shorter format of cricket. From then an idea came into the existence in the form of the 2nd most popular league in the world Indian Premier League (IPL). In 2008 BCCI vice President Lalit Modi Initiate the IPL as a competition for ICL (Indian Cricket League) Now, look at the Popularity of the IPL. It was the beginning of a new era for Men's Cricket. Now it's the dream of any player to be a part of the IPL. In the same way, WPL can set a benchmark for women's cricket as well. It tends to be the biggest women league in the world. Of Course, because of the IPL, it has got some popularity before the Start But there is a long way to go ahead. The Women's Premier League auction was completed on 13 Feb and a total of 87 players were sold between the five franchises.

BCCI announced the Schedule for Women's IPL | WPL Schedule | Women's Premier League Schedule/Fixture

BCCI has announced the Schedule for the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023. According to the Fixture each team will play against each other twice in the league matches. The matches will only be played in Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai and Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. The first Match will be played on 04 March between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians at 7:30pm. Total 22 Matches will be played 20 league matches, one eliminator and one Final in the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) also known as Women IPL. The Final will be played on 26 March at 7:30pm. Smriti Mandhana Emerged as the most expensive Player of the Women's Premier League 2023 (WPL). The highest bid came from the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They made the highest bid of 3.40 crore Indian Rupees. Indian Women's team beat Pakistan Women's team by 7 Wickets in ICC women's world cup 2023

Today Indian women's team went against the Pakistan's women team in the ICC Women's World cup 2023 at Newlands, Cape town (South Africa). Pakistan's team went on to win the Toss and they decided to Bat first. Pakistan women's team inning Indian team Bowling first took the early strike in the 2nd over when Deepti Sharma took Javeria Khan (8 runs) with the help of Harmanpreet Kaur.
